Wooden signposts (also know as fingerposts) are an iconic part of our rural environment and are installed at the roadside junctions, being the responsibillty of East Sussex County Council. Unfortunately these wooden finger posts deteriorate over time and can be expensive to maintain/repair/replace; ESCC wont support the full cost.

If no action was taken the wooden fingerposts would be replaced with metal ones. However, if funds allow, ESCC may provide matched funding of 50% of costs if a Parish Council provides the other 50%. We are delighted that Warbleton Parish Council has just managed to obtain agreement from ESCC for matched funding for the repair of 4 finger posts over the next few months, with our contribution coming from our CIL fund. This was one of the top priorities identified in our Community Survey which we held earlier this year.
