Changes to Bus Service 225 - Saturdays
Warbleton Parish Council
Last July a bus service was introduced between Heathfield and Rushlake Green on Saturdays as part of the County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan. The service is operated by Compass Travel and supplements the services operated by Cuckmere Buses and North Wealden Community Transport Partnership (Wealdlink) during the week, the latter also run under contract to the County Council.
You are, of course, aware of the major South East Water project in the area. This currently involves the closure of Middle Lane which is normally used by buses between Three Cups Corner and Rushlake Green. The buses used on the Saturday service are larger than those used by Cuckmere Buses and NWCTP which are diverting via Rookery Lane. It is not possible for the Compass Buses to follow that diversion route and therefore, regrettably, the Saturday service will be withdrawn from the section of route between Three Cups and Rushlake Green.
However, FlexiBus will be available for people travelling to/from Rushlake Green on Saturdays whilst the 225 buses cannot reach the village. FlexiBus needs to be booked in advance and would-be customers may have to be flexible as bookings need to fit around those of others.
